Activating Our Minds #25
Anna Callaghan-Leonard & Jessica Hutchinson - 2 mins
Here are three of the stories from across the world that activated our minds and informed our work this week.
SAFETY IN THE SAND
Last year, 25 people sadly lost their lives on the South West Coast. In an attempt to raise awareness of the dangers that lie at sea, The Royal National Lifeboat Institution called out to designers to help find new ways of delivering safety messages. Graphic designer David Revell stepped up to this challenge and shows us how something so simple and temporary can create such a long lasting impact.
INSPIRING INCLUSIVITY
Research from the Design Council has revealed that the creative industry is lacking in diversity. To help combat the increasing expectation for designers to be educated to university level, creative organisation Store is hosting a series of hands-on workshops that disrupt current demographics and make art & design skills more accessible to young people from all backgrounds.
PLEASE LEAVE
WeTransfer’s latest campaign encourages people to step away from their digital distractions (that can often harm productivity) and use the time they’ve saved sharing files, to share moments in the real world...
“Welcome to WeTransfer. Please leave. Because when you're here, you’re not out there. Where life happens. Where inspiration comes from. That’s why everything we design makes the most of your time. So you can bring ideas to life. And then get back to yours.”
Definitely worth a watch! (if you’ve not already logged off...)
