Before everyone downs tools for a great Bank Holiday weekend, we wanted to share with you three of the stories from across the world that activated our minds and informed our work this week...
The Food Sharing Revolution
Did you know that reducing food waste is the 3rd most effective solution to fighting climate change? We’ve discovered a new way to try and help! Olio is a free app that allows communities to share leftover food with their neighbours, rather than throwing it in the bin. This fantastic initiative will not only help combat climate change but will also help people to connect and share more.
Advertising that gets the public hands-on with helping nature… We’re in! We love the new billboard by Herbal Essences, which has over 3,000 detachable leaves embedded with wildflower seeds. Passers-by can pick and then plant the leaves at home to help the many species of endangered butterflies in the UK. This was a collaboration with Kew Gardens where we held an event earlier this summer so the project is very close to our hearts!
If you go down to the woods today, it’s not just a teddy bears picnic you might stumble upon... even more mythical whimsy awaits thanks to Copenhagen-based artist Thomas Dambo. His latest project has transformed recycled materials into giant wooden trolls that have been hidden all over the world. Dambo hopes that his awe-inspiring trolls will lure people away from their screens and encourage adventures in the natural world.
