Activating Our Minds #38

Anna Callaghan-Leonard & Jessica Hutchinson - 3 mins

Autumn has well and truly set in for us in Manchester. We wanted to share with you three of the stories from across the world that activated our minds and informed our work this week. Some of them are pretty emotional today!

Back to School

October is here and back to school season is officially over - a nostalgic time that brings back memories of new uniforms, new pencil cases and two pages of your very best handwriting. For many kids in America, however, back to school can be a very different time. Sandy Hook Promise’s latest campaign brings this harrowing reality to life - showing the juxtaposition of what back to school can really mean.

Break the Mould

As the topic of gender binary continues to be questioned, Mattel is removing bias from the equation and letting kids play freely. From physical body types to hair and clothes, their new line of dolls, ‘creatable world’ is completely gender-neutral - encouraging creativity and self-expression.

Love Calls Back

Verizon has partnered with PFLAG to inspire people in the possibility of reconnecting with loved ones. Titled ‘Love Calls Back’, The campaign features emotive stories from LGBTQ people and their estranged families - encouraging others to reach out by showing that a bad call doesn’t have to be the last call.
