Losing Vs. Being Beaten

What's it for: Setting standards.

Who's it for: Individuals and teams who strive for better.

For me, there is a difference between losing and being beaten.

Being beaten means another business or a person were better on a certain day. Their insights, their designs, their strategy, maybe even their knowledge or experience were better.

Losing is something else, though, it means losing focus, being complacent, poorly prepared or lacking the hunger and desire required to succeed.

Being beaten is part of life and business - there will always be a worthy competitor. Without them, we wouldn’t strive for better and collectively reach new heights. If you gave it your all and come up short, then what more can you do?

Losing though is unacceptable. It lowers standards and impacts on culture and teams.
